LOCATION
The site location for dredging/nourishment works is within the Noosa River and along the southern foreshore of
the Noosa River between Hilton Esplanade and Weyba Creek (see Figure 1).

PROJECT DETAILS
Localised erosion along the Noosa River southern foreshore is occurring due to natural coastal processes and
boat wakes. The foreshore is a high value area for public use and amenity and the ongoing erosion is threatening
vegetation, parkland and infrastructure. Current approvals exist in for parts of this foreshore (Areas 1 – 6),
however erosion hotspots are changing over time and additional areas require protection with sand re-
nourishment.
The Noosaville Dredge Management Plan 2006 has been used for dredging works to date; however, this updated
management plan specifies requirements consistent with present day sediment testing (NAGD 2009) and
environmental monitoring throughout dredging activities.
