5. CONCLUSION
The proposed development is for a 1,000 bird poultry farm on an existing 60ha cattle farm
situated at 317 Lawnville Road, Cooroy. While the majority of neighbours to the existing farm
have included submissions objecting to the proposed chicken farm, the assessment finds
that the proposal will not have any significant impacts on neighbouring amenity, given the
proposal is of a small scale.
The proposed style of chicken farming is able to meet the recommended separation buffer
distances recommended by The Noosa Plan and the current State Planning Policy
Guidelines for Agriculture for poultry farms of less than 1,000 birds. Reasonable conditions
can be imposed to manage the potential impacts of the farm.
The application is therefore recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
