4.3 Geology
Available geological information 1 indicates that the site is near the boundary of Quaternary age, mainly
parabolic dunes comprising ‘quartz sand’ and Holocene age coastal swamp deposits comprising ‘quartz
sand and peaty quartz sand’ (Ref. Text Figure 6).

4.4 Subsurface Conditions
Detailed descriptions of the subsurface conditions encountered in the boreholes are provided in the
borehole reports attached in Appendix A, along with definition sheets which describe terms and
abbreviations used on the reports. Subsurface conditions encountered in the boreholes are summarised as
follows:
Topsoil – comprising loose silty sand to 0.1 m BGL; then
Natural Sands – comprising loose poorly graded sands to 2 m BGL, then becoming medium
dense, increasing to dense (or denser) below depths of about 4.5 m to 5.2 m BGL.
Table 1 below, summarises the subsurface profile in each borehole.

Medium Dense Dense (or

BH2 0 – 0.1 0.1 – 2.0 2.0 – 5.5 5.2 – 6.0TD
Notes: 1. Depths noted in m BGL at time of investigation (26 August 2021)
2. TD denotes borehole terminated at target depth
