Figure 2-9: Bruce Highway – Elm Street Off-Ramp and Bruce Highway Overpass, aerial view (Source: Google Maps) To the west of the township of Cooroy, the Bruce Highway provides a major north-south link to destinations such as Gympie, Nambour and Brisbane. Refer Bruce Highway (North) off-ramp at Elm Street, and the Elm Street underpass in Figure 2.9. The Bruce Highway (North) is currently accessed via Pomona, although it is understood that works are currently underway by the Queensland Government to provide an interchange at the northern end of Elm Street to provide both access and egress to the northbound and southbound directions along the Bruce Highway. The new interchange is due to be opened later this year in 2016, before the development base year of 2018. This northern connection to the Bruce Highway is not anticipated to affect the site traffic directionality of development vehicle trips.
