GENERAL INFORMATION SEDIMENT & EROSION CONTROL GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. This Erosion and Sediment Control Plan (ESCP) is based on the International Erosion Control Association Before commencement of any earthworks or disturbance to the drainage lines, the following erosion
(Australasia) Best Practice Erosion and Sediment Control (2008) document (IEAC Guidelines) and Noosa Council’s Stan- and sediment control measures need to be installed in the following order.
dard and Project Drawings, Plans, Specifications and Schedules. 1. Access tracks for site establishment, side tracks, stockpiles should be located to minimise both
2. The property is surrounded by rural residential properties . Six Mile Creek is approximately 700m downstream from short and long-term soil and vegetation disturbance, while giving appropriate consideration to the
the proposed works.. The project includes cut and fill earthworks, a shed with water tanks and surface drainage. intended purpose of the access and the ability to rehabilitate.
3.. The location of erosion and sediment controls on this plan are indicative only. Exact location and type to 2. Divert all potential stormwater runoff from external catchments away from the construction foot-

4. ALWAYS ENSURE SEPARATION OF CLEAN EXTERNAL RUNOFF AND DIRTY CONSTRUCTION RUNOFF . divert water away from the construction zone.
5. Associated compliance requirements and plans include; 3. Install sediment controls and diversions in the locations shown in ESCP03.
• Associated architectural drawings 4. Once all of the above measures are complete and stable, civil works can commence in accordance

. Geotectnical investigation (Morrison Geotechnic, 30/08/21) 5. Direct all construction runoff to sediment controls before it leaves the site.
6. The area of disturbance is approximately 0.24Ha. An erosion risk assessment (RUSLE) has been completed for this 6. Cover any disturbed areas within 5 days or if rainfall predicted (70% chance of rainfall >5mm within
project. The project is considered high erosion risk mainly due to the steepness of the location 24 Hours or 80% chance of rainfall >10mm within 48 Hours).
7. This ESCP has a focus on managing the erosion protection and sediment capture. 7. Monitoring, maintenance and inspections are to be carried out regularly as required.
8. All controls must be maintained throughout the construction period.

EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN (36 Tunba Court, Cooroy Mountain) Risk Best pracce requirements
CONSTRUCTION AND FINISHING PHASE All Cases All reasonable and praccable steps taken to apply best pracce erosion control
measures to completed earthworks, or otherwise stabilise such works, prior to
ancipated rainfall-including exisng unstable, undisturbed, soil surfaces under the
management or control of the building/construcon works.
Low Disturbed soil surfaces stabilised with minimum 70% cover within 20 days of
compleon of works within any works within any area of a work site.
Moderate Disturbed soil surfaces stabilised with minimum 75% cover within 20 days of
compleon of works within any works within any area of a work site.
High Disturbed soil surfaces stabilised with minimum 75% cover within 10 days of
compleon of works within any works within any area of a work site.
(IECA Guidelines Table 4.4.7)
CONSTRUCTION AND FINISHING STAGE
Finishing works include final surface protections including batter protection,
Longitudinal and transverse drainage protection, final landscaping
and maintenance, final drainage works and progressive removal of erosion and
sediment controls. As per Table 1 this project (high risk) requires 75% cover within
10 days. Temporary controls will not be removed until permanent measures are in
place and site rehabilitation has occurred (at least 70 to 80% of soil surface must
be protected from raindrop erosion). Any areas used for erosion and sediment
control shall be rehabilitated.
All stormwater drainage (i.e. yard stormwater inlets and roof plumbing) during
construction requires protecting. The new shed’s roofs should be temporally or
permanently diverted through the underground stormwater pipes.

INSTALLATION
1. REFER TO APPROVED PLANS FOR
LOCATIONAND INSTALLATION DETAILS.
IF THERE ARE QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS
WITH THE LOCATION, DIMENSIONS OR
METHOD OF INSTALLATION CONTACT THE
ENGINEER OR RESPONSIBLE ON-SITE
OFFICER FOR ASSISTANCE.
2. WHEN PLACED ACROSS
NON-VEGETATED OR NEWLY SEEDED
SLOPES, THE ROLLS MUST BE PLACED
ALONG THE CONTOUR.
3. IF PLACED ON OPEN OR LOOSE SOIL,
ENSURE THE FIBRE ROLLS ARE
TRENCHED 75 TO 125mm IN SANDY SOILS
AND 50 TO 75mm IN CLAYEY SOILS.
4. ENSURE THE OUTER MOST ENDS OF
THE FIBRE ROLLARE TURNED UP THE
SLOPE TO ALLOW WATER TO
ADEQUATELY POND UP-SLOPE OF THE
ROLL, AND TO MINIMISE FLOW
BYPASSING.
5. WHEN PLACED ACROSS THE INVERT
OF MINOR DRAINS, ENSURE THE SOCKS
ARE PLACED SUCH THAT.
(i) THE CREST OF THE DOWNSTREAM
ROLL IS LEVEL WITH THE CHANNEL
INVERT AT THE IMMEDIATE UPSTREAM
SOCK (IF ANY);
(ii) EACH ROLL EXTENDS UP THE
CHANNEL BANKS SUCH THAT THE CREST
OF THE FIBRE ROLLAT ITS LOWEST
POINT IS LOWER THAN THE GROUND
LEVELAT EITHER END OF THE ROLL.
6. ENSURE THE ANCHORING STAKES ARE
DRIVEN INTO THE END OF EACH ROLL
AND ALONG THE LENGTH OF EACH ROLL
ATASPACING NOT EXCEEDING 1.2m OR
SIX TIMES THE ROLL DIAMETER,
WHICHEVER IS THE LESSER. A MAXIMUM
STAKE SPACING OF 0.3m APPLIES WHEN
USED TO FORM CHECK DAMS.
7. ADJOINING ROLL MUST BE OVERLAP AT
LEAST 450mm, NOT ABUTTED.
MAINTENANCE
4. INSPECT ALL FIBRE ROLLS PRIOR TO
FORECAST RAIN, DAILY DURING
EXTENDED PERIODS OF RAINFALL,
AFTER SIGNIFICANT RUNOFF
PRODUCING STORMS OR OTHERWISE AT
WEEKLY INTERVALS.
2. REPAIR OR REPLACE DAMAGED FIBRE
ROLLS.
3. REMOVE COLLECTED SEDIMENT AND
DISPOSE OF INA SUITABLE MANNER
THAT WILL NOT CAUSE AN EROSION OR
POLLUTION HAZARD.
REMOVAL
1. ALL EXCESSIVE SEDIMENT TRAPPED
BY THE ROLLS MUST BE REMOVED FROM
THE DRAIN OR SLOPE IF SUCH SEDIMENT
IS LIKELY TO BE WASHED AWAY BY
EXPECTED FLOWS.
2. DISPOSE OF COLLECTED SEDIMENT IN
A SUITABLE MANNER THAT WILL NOT
CAUSE AN EROSION OR POLLUTION
HAZARD.
3. THE BIODEGRADABLE CONTENT OF
THE STRAW ROLLS MAY NOT
NECESSARILY NEED TO BE REMOVED
FROM THE SITE.
4. ALL SYNTHETIC (PLASTIC) MESH OR
OTHER NON READILY BIODEGRADABLE
MATERIAL MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE
SITE ONCE THE SLOPE OR DRAIN IS
STABILISED, OR THE ROLLS HAVE
DETERIORATED TO A POINT WHERE THEY
ARE NO LONGER PROVIDING THEIR
INTENDED DRAINAGE OR SEDIMENT
CONTROL FUNCTION.
