Councillor: Division 12 - Cr Tony Wellington 8. Comments: Dear Tony It has just come to our attention following a letter to the editor in the Cooroy Rag that there is a proposal to set up a chicken broiler plant on Top Forestry Road, Ridgewood -MCU12/0184 which is up for approval by 8th August 2013. We are concerned about the effect on the amenity of the area with an MCU from the existing Low Impact Rural zoning to allow for this development. There seems to be a lot of negatives re the proposal and it is difficult to find a positive. We are concerned about noise, odour and traffic issues. We don't understand the report stating that traffic volume will reduce and the report does not address how the 19 metre B Doubles and trucks get from the Bruce Highway on to Cooroy Belli Creek Road? The turnoff on to Old Ceylon Road is certainly not suited to a large truck entering it - cars have a problem manouvering this corner. As for the report indicating that the roads simply need some better signage? Hard to believe. We understand there is a meeting to be held on 15th August. Can you provide any information regarding this? We would greatly appreciate any advice re lodging and objection to this project as although the applicant did the required signage and advertising we don't feel that the community consultation process was a fair and equitable process. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards Rachel Humphrey 9. Attachments: Referring page: Contact your Local Councillor <http://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/sitePage.cfm?code=contact-councillor>
