PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 12 MARCH 2019

Consultant recommendations
The consultants have recommended continued maintenance of existing climbing structures and
install new climbing structures along Walter Hay Drive, Eenie Creek Road and Noosa Drive, near
Weyba Bridge.
Council officer comments
Existing climbing structures are currently being maintained by Council’s Infrastructure Services.
Vegetation along fence lines can also act as a means of escape or refuge for koalas similar to
built climbing structures. At the same time vegetation on the inside of a roadway fence can also
attract fauna and hide their presence from drivers.
Photo 7: Roadside regrowth in front of koala fencing may obscure fauna for drivers but
can also allow koalas to escape off the roadway.
