5. TREE REMOVAL
5.1 Specific Permit Conditions
In accordance with the Information Request, this TMP is subject to Council approval. An
Operational Works Permit (OPW) will be required to remove either of the Subject Trees.
5.2 Tree removal
The following trees have been identified for removal due to:
▪ their inappropriate location (under powerlines), defects, poor structure, necessity for
development of VXO
Tree 2 is to be removed by a suitably qualified (min. AQF 3) and experienced arborist. The
tree should be cut to a 0.5m high stump.
Remove the stump by carefully severing the two large surface roots located on the eastern
side (refer to images and arborist comments above), under the supervision of the project
arborist to prevent damage to the roots of Tree 1. A small excavator (<5 tonne) operated as
far away from Tree 2 as practical, equipped with a finger-grab attachment should be used to
gently lever the stump from the ground. The arborist may hand dig soils away from remaining
roots and continue to trim roots during the process to minimise ground disturbance. Any
additional surface roots located south of the main stump may be ground to the required
depth using a stump grinder, also under the arborist’s supervision.
