COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROJECT newDEMOCRACY FOUNDATION
That Council note the report by the Executive Manager to the Planning & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 16 September 2014 and
A.     Accept the proposal from the newDemocracy Foundation to undertake a community
       engagement project utilising the community jury methodology and approve commencement
       of the jury selection process; and
B.     Provide a further report to Council detailing the topic/s for the community engagement
       project and level of authority to be given to the community jury.

COMMUNITY JURY PROJECT
That Council note the report by the Community Engagement Manager to the Planning &
Organisation Committee Meeting dated 9 December regarding the Community Jury Project and
endorse that the question for the first Community Jury be: “What is the best option for minimising
organic waste sent to landfill?”

Finance & Risk

Provision has been made in the 2015-16 Budget to fund the second Community Jury as part of
the trial of the Community Jury concept.
