RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Planning Scheme Project Manager to the Planning and
Environment Committee dated 7 February 2017 and the Further Report to the General
Committee dated 13 February 2017 and make the submission, provided at Attachment 1 to the
General Committee Further Report, to the Queensland Government in response to ShapingSEQ,
the draft new South East Queensland Regional Plan.


REPORT
A report on the draft South East Queensland Regional Plan ShapingSEQ was presented to the
Planning & Environment Committee meeting of 7 February 2017. At the meeting, additional
matters were raised for inclusion in Council’s submission on ShapingSEQ. Attachment 1 is a
revised submission with amendments highlighted.
The additions are mainly amplification of the original issue raised by the previous Attachment.
Other matters raised were:-
                       Strategic Cropping land should be amended as that category is now redundant and the
                         same resource mapping should be used as for other mapping in ShapingSEQ;
                       A suggested re-draft of the provisions describing rural opportunities in the Northern Sub-
                         region;
                       The request by Halcyon to consider land near Peregian Beach had not been addressed in
                         the previous Attachment; and
                       The standard of cartography could be improved with consistency.
