GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 13 FEBRUARY 2017
LAND AT PEREGIAN BEACH CONTRACTED TO HALCYON
Council received correspondence from CSR regarding land under contract to the company at
Emu Mountain Road near Peregian Beach. The land is situated between Peregian Breeze
residential development to the east and Peregian Beach College to the west. Halcyon
proposes a master planned integrated seniors living community including aged care on this
site. It_is situated outside the Urban Footprint boundary and Halcyon have requested
support to include this land in that boundary.
Council has concluded not to support any changes to the Urban Footprint under the new
ShapingSEQ for reason that there is no need demonstrated currently for additional urban
| land to be allocated to Cooroy, Peregian Beach or any other part of Noosa Shire. Council has
previously outlined in this submission that it considers sufficient capacity exists in the
current Noosa Plan to accommodate the projected demand for dwellings until 2041. The
New Noosa Plan will likely identify additional dwelling opportunities in central locations of
the ‘infill’ area of Noosa Shire.
TRAILS
Sustain Map 4b — Regional Landscape Values includes provision to highlight trails. There are
many well regarded trails existing in the northern sub-region. Acknowledgement of these
may assist with their promotion.
FISH HABITAT RESERVES
Sustain Map 4c — Natural Economic Resource Areas does not include the Fish Habitat Areas
covering more than 6,000ha of the Noosa River system.
CARTOGRAPHY
The cartographic representation of key map elements varies across maps in the document.
For example the Urban Footprint _is shown with a variety of shading and borders.
Agricultural Land also varies in shading. Consistency of cartography will assist in interpreting
the mapping elements.
