3. RESULTS
3.1. Desktop Assessment
3.1.1. Matters of National Environmental Significance
The following MNES were found to be applicable to the project area:
• Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Wetlands; approx. 40-50km downstream)
• Three [3] Listed Threatened Ecological Communities
• Fifty-four [54] Listed Threatened Species
• Fifteen [15] Listed Migratory Species.
Other matters protected under the EPBC Act relating to the Site includes twenty-two [22] Listed
Marine Species and the nearby Yurol Nature Refuge. The Site is not expected to support any Listed
Threatened Ecological Communities. The likelihood of occurrence of threatened species is detailed
in Table 1, where desktop records are ground-truthed against on-Site findings. The EPBC Act
Protected Matters Report is available in APPENDIX I Protected Matters.
3.1.2. Matters of State Environmental Significance
The following MSES were found to occur on, or relate to, the project area:
• 7a Threatened (endangered or vulnerable) wildlife (0.76ha or 21.7% of the subject lot)
• 7b Special least concern animals (0.76ha or 21.7% of the subject lot)
• 7c i Koala habitat area - core (SEQ) (0.72ha or 20.6% of the subject lot)
• 8a Regulated Vegetation - Endangered/Of concern in Category B (remnant) (0.76ha or 21.7%
of the subject lot)
• 8c Regulated Vegetation - Category R (GBR riverine regrowth) (0.28ha or 8.0% of the subject
lot)
• 8d Regulated Vegetation - Essential habitat (0.76ha or 21.7% of the subject lot)
• 8e Regulated Vegetation - intersecting a watercourse (0.3km)
All Regulated Vegetation and Koala habitat area applicable to the Site is located outside of the
proposed area of works. The MSES Environmental Report is available in APPENDIX I Protected
Matters.
3.1.3. Matters of Local Environmental Significance
The following MLES are mapped in the Noosa Plan 2020 Planning Scheme as pertaining to the Site:
• MSES Environmental Values and Area of Biodiversity Significance and a Stream Order 1-2
waterway, as per the Biodiversity, Waterways and Wetlands Overlay Map (i)
• Ecological Linkage, as per Strategic Framework Biodiversity and Environment Maps
• Riparian Buffer areas, as per the Riparian Buffer Overlay Map.
