2.0 IMPACT AVOIDANCE AND MINIMISATION
2.1 Evidence of avoidance of impact

Prior to applying for permission to tamper with animal breeding places, a number of
measures to avoid and/or minimise interference to EVNT species breeding habitat have
been considered and/or implemented as follows:

      i. Consultation with suitably qualified Ecologists (Native Foresters) during design
works to minimise potential impacts on EVNT species.
ii. Undertaking to erect No Go fencing in appropriate areas to exclude machinery
operations from known EVNT species habitat area and potential EVNT species
           breeding habitat areas.
iii. Fauna Spotter-catcher to work through and relocate fauna in identified EVNT
species habitat areas immediately prior to clearing and reprofiling works, and to
be on-site during such works to relocate any disturbed fauna and provide advice
on environmental issues encountered during works.
iv. If during works, more than 50mm of rain occurs over the preceding 24 hours, an
Ecologist/Fauna Spotter-catcher will be required to complete a construction
monitoring site visit and breeding habitat assessment prior to commencement of
works. Rainfall should be measured via the BOM weather station at Tewantin.
http://www.bom.gov.au/climate. The objective of this monitoring event is to
determine if rainfall has been sufficient to create ephemeral ponding resulting in
breeding habitat for EVNT species becoming in use.
   v. In the event that breeding habitat within the works footprint is deemed to be in
use, works are to halt in that area until the Fauna spotter catcher has removed
any EVNT species (including tadpoles) declared that the area is declared is no
           longer being utilised.
vi. Sequential clearing is to be conducted in order to facilitate the movement of native
fauna out of the works impact area.
vii. Following construction works, appropriate site stabilisation and revegetation will
be carried out to assist in the recolonisation of the site by EVNT species and other
           native fauna species.
viii. To minimise the likelihood of spreading potential amphibian pathogens such as
the chytrid fungus, all staff and contractors working in areas of known amphibian
habitat will be trained in site hygiene management in accordance with the Interim
hygiene protocol for handling amphibians (EHP Technical Manual – Wildlife
           Management, Appendix B).
