Re Application No MCV 15/0082
Dear Sir
I am writing in support of the re- classification ofland currently vacant to Community
uses- well being Type 2 - Social to enable the Cooroy- Noosa Genealogical and
Historical Research Group Inc to erect a Building for a Heritage Centre.
I am a founding member of this organisation and have spent over 19 years
endeavouring to help with Local and Family History research. Our Group has
published 2 Books on the Pioneers of this area and we hold a large collection of
material, including Photos, Newspapers of the early years ofNoosa Shire. This
material is endangered at our present premises from Damp and over crowding. We
have a proven record of Fund Raising to enable us to be financiallysound. We
regularly take part in Community functions both in Cooroy and on the Coast.
We are well recognised within the Local and Family History community for our
expertise and willingness to take part in any way to improve the Historical aspects of
Noosa Shire area.
With the World Wide interest in Family History, Tourism is becoming an adjunct to
this interest and should be encouraged. We receive many visits from Families who
have expressly come to Noosa to research their forebears. With a purpose built Centre
it can only enhance the area and add to the Tourism Dollar.
I respectfully ask the Noosa Coucil to support our application with the knowledge that
it can be of value to the Township of Coo roy and Noosa Shire as a whole. With the
help of our members we can welcome and inform visitors of the many Historical
points of interest in Cooroy and surrounding areas, something that is sadly lacking.
Yours faithfully
Winifred Wynn
