RE:       Gym Vibration Assessment – Lift Strength and Conditioning


1. Introduction
This letter provides the results of a noise investigation assessment of vibration and airborne
noise transmission between the existing Life Strength and Conditioning and the neighbouring
tenancies BBC Cinema Noosa and Davidson Hair. Measurements were conducted by Acoustic
Works on 12 January 2022 to determine the extent of vibration impacts from weight drops
and airborne noise transmission from speakers to the neighbouring tenancies.


2. Testing
2.1 Vibration Testing
Vibration levels between the tenancies were tested by measuring various weight drops from
the standard weight drop areas and measuring it at the closest point within the neighbouring
tenancy.

The following acoustic floor samples were tested:

      1. SMAI Rubber Gym Flooring 15mm thick
      2. Single Layer Regupol 4080
      3. Double Layer Regupol 4080

To facilitate the assessment and to determine the attenuation of vibration from the tested floor
samples, a 25kg dumbbell was dropped repeatedly on each sample.

The samples were situated at locations ‘1’ (shown in Figure 1) in order to determine noise
impacts from the floor system and determine the suitability of the free weight area.
Measurements were taken in locations A, B and C within the nearest tenancies. The nearby
tenancies with the highest possibility of being impacted are:

        i.    Davidson Hair, located to the east of the gym on the same level (ground).
       ii.    BCC Cinema Noosa – Foyer, located to the west of the gym on the same level
              (ground).
       iii.   BCC Cinema Noosa – Cinema 1, located above and to the west of the gym on level
              1.
