SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 9 FEBRUARY 2021
Consultation
External Consultation - Community & Stakeholder
Community consultation with both users and non-users of the service has been an ongoing
process over the last eighteen months. On-going and regular discussions with current users
regarding the upcoming changes have helped inform the planning of the proposed model.
A Mobile Library User survey received a strong response (237) and demonstrated that visiting
habits and user needs had changed since the 2006 vehicle rollout. The survey showed the
service is highly valued and that demand for access to a print collection remains strong.
Formal consultation commenced in November 2020. This included information direct to mobile
library users via e-newsletters and distribution of fact sheets via social platforms, sent to local
schools, day care centres and aged care facilities and posted on community noticeboards.
Meetings with key stakeholders were undertaken and senior library staff were available to answer
queries as part of a weekly ‘Roadshow Information Tour’.
Feedback from the community was positive, with many users pleased that the weekly service
would continue, a vehicle with internal access to library collections would still be available and
library staff would still be part of the service. Feedback regarding the need for user education
around the new kiosks and the importance of including early literacy services has been taken into
account when finalising the proposed replacement plan.
