2.3 Groundwater
No signs of groundwater seepage (‘springs’) were observed during our walk-over in the vicinity of the
proposed shed or workshop.
2.4 Surface Drainage
Natural surface drainage follows ground surface contours generally towards the south-west. Surface water
is expected to drain well from the natural slopes considering the positive natural gradients; however, poorer
drainage conditions are anticipated on level areas. No diversion drainage system was noted to be in place
above the cut or fill batters at the building sites. Culverts were present at the driveway crossovers along the
gravel driveway, with informal swale drains present along the cut side of the driveway. Rill erosion was
noted in the downslope fill batters and in isolated sections along the existing unsealed driveway alignment.
Recommendations to improve surface drainage are given in Section 4.5.
