5.6.4 Intersection 4: Eumundi-Noosa Road/Eenie Creek Road/Eumundi Road
The intersection of Eumundi-Noosa Road/Eenie Creek Road/Eumundi Road is currently a four-way
roundabout with varying circulating lane widths, under the authority of the Noosa Council. The intersection is
a major intersection catering for three high order roads, being Eumundi-Noosa Road, Eumundi Road and
Eenie Creek Road. Eumundi-Noosa Road forms the western leg of the intersection, with Eumundi Road
forming the northern leg and Eenie Creek Road along the eastern leg of the intersection. Commerce Court
forms the southern leg of the intersection and solely provides access to properties located south of the
intersection. The most recent aerial imagery of the intersection is shown alongside the analysed intersection
form on Figure 5-7. Results for the analysis are summarised in Table 5-9.

2028 with Development 0.93 23 229 1.32 174 1747
The results indicate that the existing intersection has adequate capacity for the background scenario at the
2018 design horizon. For the development scenario at the 2018 design horizon the intersection would fail to
operate acceptably during the Saturday AM design period with the new development traffic volumes
introduced in 2018.
Irrespective of the development traffic, the intersection does not have adequate capacity for the background
scenario at the 2028 design horizon as it breaches the DOS threshold of 0.85 for roundabouts. Capacity
failure of the existing roundabout would occur at approximately 2022 irrespective of the development traffic.
To obtain an acceptable level of operation at the 2028 design horizon without the development, an upgrade
of the roundabout is required. The analysis indicates that a roundabout would not provide adequate capacity
