and may marginally exceed the evening criteria by 2dB(A). The terrace will not be used continuously, but
rather will be used for relatively short periods before or after events in the church building, and this
effectively reduces the potential noise impact.
Noise Control Measures –
Noise from people on the Friendship Terrace, will be reduced at the nearest houses due to the design
of the building. The roof construction will include acoustic absorption panels to reduce the buildup
of reverberant noise, and the roof will be raked to reflect sound back towards the church rather than
projecting it towards the residential boundary;
Hours of use of the friendship terrace could be limited to prior to 9pm, and the number of times it is
used during the evening could be limited; and
The existing school/ residential boundary fence is presently a paling fence. An acoustic fence could
be investigated to confirm if it would provide useful attenuation of noise at the nearest residences.
It is expected that these measures will enable impacts from the friendship terrace to be managed.
Air Conditioning Plant
Plant associated with air conditioning and ventilation for the alterations will be designed to meet the noise
criteria provided in Table 2, at the nearest residences. The condenser plant is planned to be located under
the friendship terrace.
