Dear Sirs
Reference: Development application Number: MCU10/2083.
I, Sheila Mason, of the above address, would like to object strongly to the
proposed development of the site at 37 Gibson Road, Noosaville, for the following
important reasons:-
• There is absolutely no need in this area for this type of development, that
can possibly justify the re-zoning of the current nursery site from
residential use (under the Noosa Plan) to commercial use.
• Residents in this area already have easy access to all types of shopping
outlets and restaurant facilities, and any further development will merely
serve to detract valuable business from the existing, and more than
adequate, local trade's people. This proposed development will inevitably
cause shop closures in the area - and what is the point of replacing
something that doesn't need to be replaced?
• There are plenty of empty shops and offices already available in
Noosaville that can be utilized by any business that wishes to come into
the area, without building more.
• Any perceived increase in employment will inevitably be offset by
reductions from existing shop and restaurant closures - especially in the
immediate vicinity of Thomas Street which has worked hard over many
years to become the iconic dining-out precinct of Noosa that it now is.
• Very serious traffic problems would be caused in the area with the
adjacent roundabout becoming more and more a very busy intersection,
with both residential traffic and commercial traffic vying for priority. All
this on Gibson Road - an already over-used major thoroughfare.
• The proposed area for development is still, and always will be, in a very
residential area, and we, the residents do NOT want or need the proposed
amenities. Neither do we want the sort of development that will attract
late-night revelers, late night traffic, bright lights and resultant noise.
Yours faithfully
Sheila Mason
