Subject: MCU22/0201 - 34 Elm Street, Cooroy - Proposal Car Wash in Cooroy From: Darien Allan Date: 2023-10-20T02:01:40+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail [You don't often get email from [email protected]. To Whom it May Concern, I have been a resident of Cooroy (Black Mountain) for 14 years and have seen a lot of changes in the town over that time. I’m always hopeful that any new development will create a more ‘community/neighbourhood’ feel to this town as that’s one of the things I love about Cooroy. Regarding the car wash proposal - I want to first say that if it goes ahead I will definitely be using it. I go into the one in Noosaville and love it! I also love the look of the structure and am encouraged to see so much greenery included. I hope that it will draw more people to use this area as a meeting area and perhaps encourage other businesses to open up on that side of the tracks. My one major concern is the traffic rules in place at the moment and wondered if this would change prior to opening the car wash? Already, getting out of the BP is difficult with cars turning into and out of Opal Street, in to and out of the BP at both sides, in to and out of Cedar Street. Then add in the bus stop with school age children dodging across Elm Street to get into town. My children take the bus from that corner each day to school in Noosaville and I’m very concerned that more traffic, without the proper crossings and set up, will end in a disaster there. I would love to see a better pedestrian crossing there and better traffic rules for that section before adding in another drawcard for the area (the car wash). I really believe that this is a good development for Cooroy and like I said…I will be using it when it’s built. I’d just like the congestion and numerous traffic directions and pedestrians to the area of town to be considered and improved as well. Thank you for reading my input. All the best with the development. Kind regards, Darien Allan
