Ecological Assessment Report v2 NCES REF: LEA2016-06 Lot 496 on MCH591 - 30 Pottery Street, Pomona 5.2.1 Vegetation Unit 1 – Open Eucalypt Forest over grassy to shrubby understorey Vegetation Unit 1 (VU1) is present within most the site and occupies an approximate area of 1.85ha. The canopy has attained an average height of 30m and is dominated by a mix of Eucalypts. Individual Eucalypt species dominance is localised throughout the site, with Eucalyptus acmenoides dominant within the eastern extent and E. pilularis dominant in the western extent. Corymbia intermedia and Eucalyptus propinqua were also observed as a sub-dominant presence within the canopy. Projective Foliage Canopy Cover (PFCC) within VU1 is approximately 35% with average diameter at breast height (DBH) of the canopy trees at approximately 300-500mm, with some mature E. pilularis individuals attaining a DBH of >1000mm. The mid-storey within the unit is sparse and dominated by common open forest species such as Petalostigma triloculare and Lophostemon confertus. The understorey is dominated by a range of native grass and sedge species, with areas of localised native shrub species. Plate 4 depicts typical conditions within VU1.
