                TPZ: Tree protection zone
                10% encroachment of TPZ
                SRZ: Structural root zone

         3.1 The trees recommended for removal cannot be retained adequately due to TPZ’s being
               significantly compromised. Other trees for removal in the event of TPZ’s that can be protected are
               far too large to be safely retained. If retained they will be open to constant limb loss possibility
               due to exposure as a result of the removal of other adjacent vegetation.

         3.2 TPZ’s need to be determined and clearly marked out prior to any tree removals. ATF fencing or
               similar should be set out to limit root damage of protected trees.
               Tree removals must be undertaken with care and root balls should be stump ground when close
               to protected trees. Any works within TPZ’s should be supervised by the Project Arborist.

         3.3 Tree 33, 27 and 26 are quite close to designated open space areas so care will be needed during
               construction. Tree 56 is well clear of planned site works but is a mature and large tree so will
               require total protection of the TPZ.

         3.4 All retained trees require mulching of the TPZ’s using good quality forest mulch. Root pruning
               using Air spade or a vacuum excavation process is recommended for any works within 1 metre of
               TPZ’s.

         3.5 Although not plotted there are some smaller trees in the North-East corner that can also be
               protected if possible.

                                                                                                Page 5 of 15
