3            Hydrology

3.1          Background
Situated to the north and north-west of the subject site is an external catchment covering an area of
approximately 7.18 ha. As mentioned previously, the lawful point of discharge for the site is to the south into
an existing drainage network. Based on the Noosa Council Enterprise Mapping system, the subject site is not
located in the flood hazard area for a 1% AEP event. Although records indicate that the site is outside the flood
hazard area, a detailed hydrological and hydraulic investigation has been undertaken to determine the effects
of the proposed development on flood levels in the area and to ensure that the proposed development does
not result in negative impacts on adjacent properties.

3.2          Model Setup
3.2.1        Catchment delineation
Local catchments were calculated by interrogation of the DEM and drainage lines. The catchment boundaries
are shown in Figure 3-1.
