Response to Information Request 23 November 2023
the SPP 2019 Guidelines: Natural Hazards Risk and Resilience Bushfire2019 and the QFES Bushfire Resilience
Communities 2019 document.
Information Required
19. Provide a new BHAMP in accordance with the SPP 2019 Guidelines: Natural Hazards Risk and Resilience
Bushfire 2019 and the QFES Bushfire Resilience Communities 2019 document.
Comment:
It is accepted that there is a need to maintain a current Bushfire Management Plan (BMP) for the site; however,
it is not reasonable for a BMP to be provided at this stage for the proposed development. The proposed
development with the removal of the vegetation that protrudes into the site, lessens the risk of bushfire for
the existing facility and does not place people and property at added risk. Further, the increased land area
for the RRA will actually assist to reduce the risk from bushfire given a greater amount of separation will be
able to be provided from the greenwaste to the bushland and also to prevent self-combustion with the
greenwaste being distributed over a larger area.
In the circumstances, a condition should be imposed to deal with this issue with an updated BFP to be
provided with the future applications for operational works.
