Re: Proposed poultry farm at 136 Top Forestry Road, Ridgewood
MCU12/0184

Dear Mr Knaggs,

I am writing to express my strong support for the above application in the interests of the Cooroy community.

If successful, this proposal will help to ensure the future economic sustainability of the Cooroy district, with much-needed investment and local jobs at a time when many businesses are struggling and unemployment is rising on the Coast.

I believe this application is consistent with the planning scheme and the wider community view that we need to encourage clean, green industries in appropriately zoned areas.

I understand the applicant is a long-term resident with a proven track record in the agricultural industry who has demonstrated his commitment to the Cooroy district over many years.

I am a commercial Bee Keeper and I have been placing my bee hives at the above mentioned property now for over 8 years. I have chosen to place bees every year on this farm due to their environmentally friendly management practices. I take my bees there in late winter at weak strength and within a month they are strong hives and ready for the new seasons honey flows and pollination work that I also do. Over the past years I have left my hives there all year round and have never suffered any losses due to poor environmental care.

I believe that the nutrients provided from the manure when used on the avocados will help boost the trees to provide more nectar and pollen which in turn will aid in faster development of my bee hives. This in turn will provide better pollination of the avocados and native timber that is in the surrounding area.

I am confident the proposed poultry farm will have minimal impact on the environment, local roads and residents, whilst offering significant and ongoing benefits for the immediate and surrounding areas.

I urge you to give this application favourable consideration.

Yours sincerely,
