INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 10 NOVEMBER 2015
However there are many more elements to asset management yet to be addressed and,
conducting an asset management capability audit will be the first step in addressing these issues
collaboratively and with a whole of Council approach.
2. Capability Audit – Objectives
The intention of the audit is to determine the steps towards embedding an asset management
culture across the organisation. This will achieve a systematic, common and shared approach to
asset management improvement that will achieve and go beyond ISO55000 compliance with the
option of potential certification should Council wish to consider in the near future.
The main objectives of the capability audit will be to:
conduct a high-level gap analysis on the asset management practices being applied by
Council; and
provide guidance on the asset management improvement journey ahead for the Council as
a whole.
The outcome of this audit will be to:
determine the status of existing asset management practices within the Council and the
level of maturity;
assess how well Council is currently aligned with the requirements of ISO55000.
understand the asset management knowledge and competency of key staff through a
document review and interviews; and
develop a detailed Roadmap, which will include an Asset Management Improvement
Program for achieving excellence in asset management towards ISO55000 certification
and beyond.
3. Capability Audit – Request for Consultancy
A request to quotation (RTQ) has been issued through the vendor panel procurement process
requesting a suitable consultancy that is a leader in the asset management field, in order to
identify suitable consultants and get some indication of the costs involved. It is important that a
suitable supplier is engaged that has the relevant high level skills, knowledge and experience to
undertake the asset management capability audit to ensure that a detailed road map can be
developed that complements the organisations objectives.
