INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 10 NOVEMBER 2015

BCC

The Main Hall is permanently leased to the Noosa Gymnastics Club who have advised that their
membership has increased from approximately 500 to 650 children and youth since moving to
the BCC. There are a consistent number of regular and new hirers within the BCC including:

 Little Seeds Theatre Company
 Noosa Folk Dancers
 Zumba
 Kids Fitness
 Yoga
 Meditation
 Kings House Church
 GANG Ministries
 Hillsong Youth Group

3. STAFFING

The J staff also oversee the BCC, with total staffing levels to cover both facilities remaining at 4.7
FTE. This includes 3 full-time staff and 1.7 FTE casual staff engaged as required. The J staff are
required to perform a range of duties, hence they are multi-skilled and flexible in their working
arrangements. The team has experienced ongoing change recently, due to the Venue Support
Officer resigning from their position, and ceasing employment on 31 August 2015; this position is
currently being backfilled by an existing casual employee, as a temporary measure.

4. SYSTEMS, PROCESSES AND OTHER MATTERS

Regular reviews and updating of operational systems and processes is ongoing and will continue
to align with the Service Review outcomes.

5. FUTURE DIRECTION

A draft business plan has been developed as an outcome of the recent service review.
Discussions regarding the business plan have highlighted the necessity for a Council workshop
to be held on 13 November. The workshop is an opportunity for Councillors to see more detail on
current usage of The J and to provide input into the future priorities of the centre.

Developing a comprehensive long-term asset management plan for the facilities has been
highlighted as a priority and this will begin to take shape over coming months.

The J will have a brief shutdown over the Christmas and New Year period. The last day of normal
operation will be Wednesday 23 December, with a reopening date of Monday 4 January.
