The photos below show the current site conditions and vegetation that will be affected by the proposed development. Generally, the proposed development will occur mostly within the existing grassed open space areas, at 1, 3 and 9 Maple Street Cooroy. The existing native riparian vegetation adjacent to Cooroy Creek will not be subject to removal, however part of the vegetated swale flowing through the site will be removed. 1.1 Proposed Works Proposed Works include: Concrete pathways Picnic Shelters and toilets Frog pond area around the existing vegetated swale Water play area Climbing area Areas of softfall Event Area which includes a grassed field area. Landscaping. The works will encroach into mapped Category R vegetation and Council’s mapped Riparian Buffer Areas and Environmental Protection Areas. 1.2 Desktop Assessment The site of works is within Lot 1 and 2 RP153299 and part of Lot 3 SP230055, which also contains the Cooroy llibrary, but is separated from the playground site by the Marara Street road reserve. The area is currently a grassed open space area and used for some community events in Cooroy. The site bounded by Cooroy Creek to the north and Maple Street to the south and Marara Street to the east. Cooroy Creek flows into Six Mile Creek approximately 2.8km downstream of the site, which then flows into the Mary River approximately 60km downstream (to the north). On review of mapping and legislation the following is relevant for the site: X:\JOBS\CT Projects in progress\2001 env reports for cooroy playground carparks\Correspondence\Reports\ENV\Playground\EnvironmentalValues_BiodiversityOverlay_Report_HinterlandPlayground.doc pg. 1
