Hi Patrick,

 

We will not be proceeding with the development application at 210 Lake Weyba Drive Noosaville (ALDI).

 

Regarding the  development application for the 7-Eleven at 143 Eumundi Road Noosaville, it is of a different nature to the Aldi sign. The Aldi sign contained animations whereas the 7-Eleven sign is a digital screen containing scrolling images. Specific Outcome 8 of the advertising devices code sates that; an advertising device does not move or incorporate elements that give the impression of movement. The sign does not move, display moving messages or incorporate elements that give the impression of movement. The sign contains several still images which are scrolled between, but there are no moving images included. Therefore, we do not consider that the sign at the 7-Eleven store is a moving sign.

Further to Justine’s email below and my phone call have you determined as to whether you will be proceeding with the application for signage AT 210 Lake Weyba Drive Noosaville (ALDI),

 

I also note that an application has been received for 7-Eleven at 143 Eumundi Noosa Road, similar to my advice regarding the proposed ALDI sign this sign is also a moving sign. Moving signs are inconsistent advertising devices and contrary to the Overall outcomes for the Advertising Devices Code and accordingly would be supported at officer level.

 

Can you please advise by close of business Monday as to your intention with these applications.
