GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 APRIL 2019
Cash Management and Investment Performance
Total cash on hand at the end of March 2019 was $76.6 million. Included in this balance are
funds held in trust and for restricted purposes (e.g. unexpended levy and grant funds) and
monies committed for funding capital projects during the year. The cash balance will
progressively reduce over the next quarter, aligning to budget forecasts by year end, as
operational and capital expenditure outstrips expected revenue.
The pie charts following present the mix of cash held at March 2019 by agency (graph on the left)
and by credit risk rating (graph on the right). All funds have been invested in accordance with the
Investment Policy and in consideration of the principles of ethical investment, preservation of
capital, return on investment and counterparty thresholds.

The following chart monitors the year-to-date trend on total cash and the agencies invested.
During March, $2 million held in a commercial term deposit with Suncorp matured and was
utilised to fund operating and capital expenditure requirements. All other investments were stable
as sufficient working cash was available to fund Council’s requirements for the month.
