Table 6-8 Assessment of Viewpoint 7: View north from Queen Street (near number 12)
Description of the view The fore and middle ground of this view includes residential properties on the eastern edge of
Cooran, consisting detached dwellings, large gardens and lawn areas within a rural bushland
setting. The densely vegetated ridges and hillsides of the Cooran tablelands are seen in the
background of view, enclosing views to the proposal site. The existing 30-metre-high monopole
on Tablelands Road is not distinguishable in views from this location, due to distance and
intervening elements.
Description of the The monopole would be located on the rear side of the intervening vegetated ridge, in the
Proposal background of view, approximately 2 kilometres from this location on Queen Street. The upper
portion of the tower may be seen above the ridgeline vegetation; however, it would be
imperceptible at this distance. During construction, all ground level works would be screened by
the surrounding vegetation, furthermore the removal of trees would not be perceived at this
distance. Some tall machinery may be visible above the treeline during installation of the
monopole, however, this would be a very small temporary element in the background of the
view.
Visual Sensitivity This view has a neighbourhood visual sensitivity as it is on a local road and represents views
from dwellings on the eastern outskirts of Cooran, to the south of the site.
Visual Modification Level of modification (Low, Medium, High) L M H
Distance The monopole would be in the background of the view and comprise a small
part of the visible field of view. It is likely that this element would be
imperceptible at this distance.
Scale The scale is consistent with other built elements in the view
Landform & contrast The landform is hilly and undulating assisting in the absorption of a vertical
element in this view.
Scale of land use The landuses in this view are rural and include scattered built elements.
Backdrop The upper level of the would be seen against a vegetated backdrop.
Form The vertical element in an otherwise curved and rolling landscape.
Overall, the monopole would be largely screened by landform and vegetation
and would comprise a small element in the background of this view. This view
includes several other built elements which are readily absorbed.
There would be a no perceived modification of the view.
Level of Impact Negligible visual impact
