4.0 STORMWATER QUALITY
4.1 STORMWATER QUALITY OBJECTIVES
In accordance with the SEQ Regional Plan Implementation Guideline No.7 for Water Sensitive
Urban Design the required operational phase Water Quality Objectives (WQOs) are provided in
Table 9 below.
Table 9 Operational Phase Water Quality Objectives:
Pollutant Pollutant Load
Reductions
Total Suspended Solids (TSS) 80%
Total Phosphorous (TP) 60%
Total Nitrogen (TN) 45%
Gross Pollutants (GP) 90%
4.2 POTENTIAL WATER QUALITY IMPACTS
4.2.1 CONSTRUCTION PHASE
Potential exists during the construction phase of development for sediment (from exposed soil
areas and stockpiles) to become mobilised by stormwater. This results in suspended solids
entering waterways. Table 10 below details the typical stormwater pollutants which may be
generated during the construction phase of a development.
Table 10 Typical Construction Phase Pollutants
Pollutant Sources
Paper, construction packaging, food packaging,
Litter
cement bags and off-cuts.
Unprotected exposed soils and stockpiles during
Sediment
earthworks and building.
Fuel and oil spills and leaks from construction
Hydrocarbons
equipment.
Cement slurry, asphalt prime, solvents, cleaning
Toxic Materials
agents and wash waters.
pH altering substances Cement slurry and wash waters.
