4.3.2 DEVELOPED SITE CATCHMENTS
The intent of the stormwater quality assessment is to provide an appropriate level of stormwater
quality improvement for the proposed developed site.
A review of the proposed development displayed in the architectural plans in Appendix B was
undertaken to determine an appropriate stormwater quality modelling approach. Refer also to
catchments shown on the civil engineering plans in Appendix C.
MUSIC models the rainfall-runoff and pollutant generation processes within a source node with
unique pollutant export parameters for each different land use type. As required by the Water by
Design, MUSIC Modelling Guidelines Version 1.0 (2010), the proposed development was
modelled using a “split catchment approach”, where each surface of the development is
separated based on its land use. A breakdown of the proposed developed catchment areas is
presented in Table 12.
Table 12 Proposed Development Sub-Catchment Areas
Roof Road Ground Ground
Catchment TOTAL
(m2) (m2) (Pervious m2) Impervious m2
Catchment A 586 1351 95 141 2,173
Catchment B - 140 100 13 253
TOTALS 586 m2 1,491 m2 195 m2 154 2,426 m2
The identified sub catchments were modelled with commercial node parameters as per the
Healthy Waterways Water by Design “MUSIC Modelling Guidelines Version 1.0, 2010”. These
parameters presented in Table 13 and Table 14 overleaf.
