Attention Sunshine Coast Council CEO, Mr John Knaggs

RE :Proposed Poultry Farm at 136 Top Forestry Road, Ridgewood MCU12/0184

[email protected]

Dear Mr. Knaggs,

I am writing to express my support for the above application.

I am a long term resident of Sunshine Coast interested in agriculture and very concerned when frequently hearing farming and farmers are vanishing with downsizing of primary production. I was encouraged to learn of a proposed Poultry Farm outside Cooroy and took time to seek details of the planning and proposal.

I understand the applicant is a long term resident with a proven record in the agricultural industry who had demonstrated a commitment to the district over many years. He has a long standing reputation for ethical , best practice farm management , delivered professionally, consistent with his desire to establish a clean , green industry.

I understand there will be numerous sheds allowing the chickens to roam free on a natural floor covered with sawdust , providing a very comfortable environment. They will not be caged. Food and water will be provided automatically.

At a time when we are seeing farmers walking off the land that has been held for generations, there should be greater support and encouragement for primary production. We need Farmers to Farm and provide us with safe food . Unfortunately there seems to be endless blocks put up whenever someone is prepared to have a go . Often objections arise when there is lack of facts and misinformation.

I have come to the conclusion that this venture would have minimal impact on the environment, local roads and residents, whilst offering significant and ongoing benefits for the immediate and surrounding areas .. Generating the economy,& jobs .Producing a local product when we are constantly faced with buying imported food that has not been processed to the high standard of our Australian producers . A great benefit to the consumer.

I urge you to give this application favourable consideration.

Yours sincerely ,

Carmel Evans
