RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Executive Assistant to the CEO to the Services &
Organisation Committee Meeting dated 10 July 2018 and request the Chief Executive Officer to
write to the Office of Industrial Relations, Queensland Treasury requesting the appointment of
Friday, 6 September 2019 as a Show Holiday for the Noosa Shire.


REPORT
Under the Holidays Act 1983, the Minister is empowered to appoint, upon request by the Chief
Executive Officer of the local government for the district concerned, a special holiday within a
district. Holidays of this nature are usually appointed for an annual agricultural, horticultural or
industrial show.

The Noosa Country Show has traditionally been held annually on the second weekend in
September. For 2019, the Noosa Country Show is proposed for the weekend of 6 – 7
September.

Requests for the appointment of a special holiday for 2019 are required to be submitted no later
than 10 August 2018. After consultation with the Noosa Show Society, it is proposed that an
application be made to the Minister to appoint Friday, 6 September 2019 as the Show Holiday for
Noosa Shire for 2019.
