Risks & Opportunities
Failing to take a practical and robust approach to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)
Management would expose Council staff and in some instances the public to an unacceptable
risk of injury. In addition to the human factor, inadequate WHS management can also have
significant impact on Council’s reputation through legislative compliance issues, and financial
costs associated with increased insurance premiums and legislative fines in the event of serious
incidents.
Significant strides have been made to improve Council’s WHS systems and processes. Despite
our positive results, the organisation will remain vigilant and continue to prioritise and focus on
further improving this area given its importance.
Consultation
External Consultation - Community & Stakeholder
Nil
Internal Consultation
Internal consultation has been extensive as WHS involves all staff, contractors and volunteers.
