Observations
The 2 trees identified both present as stunted specimens and have signs of what we
can assume is vehicle impact. Both observations are typical for this species growing in
a streetscape setting with all the restrictions of this growing position.
There is approximately 7.6 m from centre of trunk to centre of trunk and once the SRZ
is deducted we are left with a 3.2 m space for the driveway. Also considering that 10%
incursion into the SRZ is acceptable we could assume this could be pushed out to
3.6m approximately for the driveway. There are some conditions as identified in the
tree protection methodology that would need to be adhered to for this to be
compliant with AS 4970-2009
Tree Protection Methodology
After defining the TPZ and SRZ we can see that a tree protection
1. Appoint Australian Tree Contractors & Arboricultural Consultants as Project
Arborist (PA) Level 5 Arborist for the duration of the project.
2. All tree protection guidelines to be as AS4970-2009.
3. PA to set up tree protection fencing defining the TPZ.
4. All fencing to have signage installed
5. All contractors to be inducted by PA to the site and to sign onto the conditions
of the Tree Protection Guidelines set out here.
6. All demolition or construction works required within the SRZ or TPZ will need
to be discussed and planned with the PA and the appropriate Tree Protection
protocols be designed for each instance and reported and ensure they are
within keeping with AS 4970-2009
7. All works within the TPZ to be supervised by the PA.
8. All excavation works within the TPZ to be done with a vacuum excavation. And
root pruning to be done by level 5 Arborist and supervised by the PA.
