Hello, Please can this email be passed onto the relevant person including Clare Stewart. I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the proposed carwash development in Cooroy, particularly at the site that has historically been accommodation, making it what I consider the gateway to our beloved town, Cooroy the heart of the hinterland, where I was born and bred, holds immense sentimental value for me, and seeing an industrial-style carwash in this location would be an eyesore and a departure from the town's character. The current proposed location for the carwash is in a commercial area on the main thoroughfare, which raises significant traffic concerns, especially during peak times, with caravans and vehicles lining up on the main road. Anticipating the traffic for this site to spill into our residential streets, including Kauri St, Diamond Lane, and Opal Street, is a valid concern. Additionally, the presence of a carwash in this location, known for attracting car enthusiasts and P-platers, could exacerbate traffic congestion and safety risks, given the extended time spent at a carwash, often upwards of 30 minutes. I strongly believe that a business of an industrial nature, such as a carwash, should be situated in an appropriate industrial area, like Jarrah Street, Lower Mill Road, or Cooroy Business Park, and not in a commercial zone along the main road. There are suitable locations for a car wash in Cooroy I am not object to the car wash but am object to it on this site. Placing a carwash in a residential or commercial area could pose dangers and negatively impact the charm of the east side of Cooroy, as well as the noise for surrounding residents with 24 hour operation this is not acceptable. I am a proponent of positive growth within Cooroy and would enthusiastically support a carwash facility within our town, but it is crucial that the proposed developments align with zoning regulations and maintain the character and safety of our community. Thank you for considering my concerns regarding this matter. I urge the council to carefully evaluate the implications of this proposed carwash development and consider alternative locations that align with our community's values and priorities.
