PROPOSED CALILE HOTEL NOOSA DEVELOPMENT
3 – 7 SERENITY CLOSE, NOOSA HEADS
The analysed profiles represent two critical sections for the proposed development, which cover a section
through the east and west wings, depicted in Section 01 and Section 02 of the provided drawings (Ref.
Richard + Spence Project No. 2100004, Drawing Nos. SD-A-30-01 & 02 G, Rev C, dated 28 July 2022).
Modelling has been carried out for four separate cases, summarised as follows:
Case 1 – Proposed upslope profile through the west wing.
Case 2 – Proposed downslope profile through the west wing.
Case 3 – Proposed upslope profile through the east wing.
Case 4 – Downslope profile through the east wing.
Commonly adopted industry standards generally require minimum FOS values against slope instability of 1.5
for long-term conditions. Administering authorities such as NC normally require a minimum FOS of 1.5 or
greater for long-term conditions. Results of the stability analyses are presented in Table 4, with the Slope/W
outputs illustrated in Text Figure 11 to 14 on the following pages.
Table 4: Slope/W Analysis Results
Analysis Description Factor of Safety
Global instability of the proposed upslope profile through west
Case 1 1.5
wing.
Global instability of the proposed downslope profile through west
Case 2 wing. Retaining wall supported on piles being 3 m in length with a 1.7
nominal 50 kN/m shear force resistance (unfactored).
Global instability of the proposed upslope profile through the east
Case 3 1.5
wing.
Global instability of the proposed downslope profile through the
Case 4 2.5
east wing.
