Geotechnical Investigation
PROPOSED CALILE HOTEL NOOSA DEVELOPMENT
3 – 7 SERENITY CLOSE, NOOSA HEADS
4.0 RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION
4.1 Site Description
The site is formally described as Lots 10 and 11 on SP195871, covering a combined area of about 2.4 ha,
with frontage to Serenity Close and Banksia Avenue along the northern and eastern boundaries,
respectively. At the time of the investigation the western part of the site contained unsealed carparking and
a small demountable building. A small single-story office/residence with a gravel driveway was located in the
north-eastern corner of the site. Remaining areas of the site primarily comprised bushland, with sporadic
clearings and tracks prevalent to the north. Relict electrical boxes, power cables and concrete slabs were
observed across the northern part of the site, with a historic aerial review suggesting the area may have
been used as a caravan park (or similar).
Based on an external visual assessment the existing structures appeared to be in relatively good structural
condition and exhibited no obvious signs of distress (e.g. cracking, misalignment, etc.) that could be
attributed to slope instability. Surrounding allotments to the north and west of the subject site contained
multi-storey unit developments, with a relatively densely vegetated allotment directly to the south. Sewer
and stormwater infrastructure was contained in an easement which traversed the central part of the site.
A 2022 aerial image of the site and surrounds is shown in Text Figure 2.
