Council communications activities include:
   Media release on 14 April;
   Promotion of the collection service on Council’s Facebook page;
   Promotion of the collection service on Council’s website homepage; and
   Council’s eNews service (if available).


BUDGET & FINANCIAL ASPECTS

A provision has been made for a kerbside bulk waste collection service in the adopted budget
and a breakdown of the estimated costs is as follows:

Collection of domestic waste from the kerbside by Cleanaway                        $103,000
Sorting of Recyclable waste at the landfill                                        $ 4,000
Advertising and promotional brochures                                              $ 3,000
Net cost of the kerbside service                                                   $110,000


RECOMMENDATION

That Council note the report by the Acting Director Community Infrastructure and Co-ordinator
Waste Management to the Infrastructure & Services Committee and approve the provision of a
bulk waste kerbside service to serviceable domestic premises over a period of 7 weeks from late
April to early June 2014.
