PM Submission - Jennifer Wellington - 51983.3225.14

TEWANTIN Q 4565 24 June, 2021
Objection to Application Reference 51938.3225.14
Unit 9-10/30 Hastings Street, Noosa Heads Lot 30 on SP307674
Objection by Jennifer Wellington owner of unit 8, The Hastings, 30 Hastings Street, Noosa
Heads. Q 4567
I lodge this objection to the building proposed on the adjoining property identified as Lot 9 and 10
30 Hastings Street on the following grounds.
1.1 believe the application in its current form has a significant detrimental impact on the amenity of
the surrounding free-standing independent residences, and that the development proposal in its
current form should be rejected.
2.1 believe more particulars need to be provided by the applicant at this important stage to make
sure that the privacy of people in my residence and open space is better protected. My windows
facing this proposed development are clear glass and changing them would limit natural light.
The proposed set-back to the north (and I note no details of the proposed privacy screens are fixed
and permanent with 25% maximum transparency) does not comply as it allows overlooking from
level two to my private open space.
In relation to the proposed third floor open area of kitchen and sitting areas, I believe this also
unreasonably impacts on my amenity. As well, timber screens do not comply.
3. I believe the current proposal does not comply with Noosa Plan 2020 Safety and Amenity
requiring screens to be 1.7 metres permanently fixed to avoid overlooking private open space or
habitable windows within 10 metres. In particular the balconies on first, second and third floors do
not preserve privacy to existing windows or surrounding private open spaces for my unit.
When the The Hastings was conceived by brilliant Noosa architect Gabriel Poole four decades ago
his focus was to provide the maximum possible privacy for each home. Each house was built on its
own land which was planted with trees and shrubs creating a private oasis. This is what makes The
Hastings so unique. Please do not allow this development to destroy this very special place.
Yours sincerely.
