3.1.4 WildNET search

DES and DSITIA has compiled a database of wildlife sightings and listings for all flora and fauna
species within a designated area. A database search was conducted for all listed species that
have been identified within one kilometre of the survey area on Lot 6 RP848414. Three EVNT-
listed fauna species were listed on WildNET as shown in Table 2.

3.1.5 EPBC Protected Matters

A report was generated using the EPBC Act Protected Matters Search Tool. It noted that there is
potential for 34 Threatened Species and 15 Migratory Species to occur within one kilometre of
the centre of the survey area, including Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) listed as Vulnerable, and
Giant Barred Frog (Mixophyes iteratus) listed as Endangered.

There is also potential for one listed Ecological Community to occur within one kilometre of the
site: Lowland Rainforest of Subtropical Australia, which is listed as Critically Endangered under
the EPBC Act (1999).

3.1.6 Protected Plants Flora Survey Trigger map

The Protected Plants Survey Trigger Map is a tool provided by DES in order to identify areas that
may contain EVNT plant species. The trigger map is used to determine when a flora survey needs
to meet the requirements of the Flora Survey Guidelines – Protected Plants (NCA, 1992). Figure
4 shows that the Vipassana Centre allotment lies within a Protected Plants high risk area and as
such, is subject to the provisions of the guidelines.
