7 DRAFT QUEENSLAND PROTECTED AREA STRATEGY
Committee Recommendation
Moved: Cr Wellington
Seconded: Cr Glasgow
That Council note the report by the Principal Environment Officer to the General Committee
dated 13 February 2017 and make the submission, provided at Attachment 2 to the Report,
to the Queensland Government in response to the Draft Queensland Protected Area
Strategy including the following addition to the comment on Page 14:
"However, for the headland section of Noosa Heads National Park, due to its essential
tourism function and thus importance to the Noosa economy, we do not recommend an entry
fee or public pass be implemented. A payment to utilise this national park would conflict with
the Noosa approach to public access, would be difficult to manage given the many surfers
who access the park, and may have deterrent effect on visitors to the area."
Carried.
