What We Heard from the Community
Over the past three years, Noosa Council conducted two comprehensive community
engagement phases, involving more than 2,300 participants and generating a substantial
evidence base:
• Phase 1: 937 valid data records
• Phase 2: 1,099 valid data records
Across both phases, consistent themes emerged:
• Community at the heart
• Nature should be protected and restored
• Tourism must be limited and better managed, including short-term accommodation
(STAs), events, day visitation and funding
• Improved ways to move around and traffic congestion need solutions
• Transparency, trust, and accountability must improve
• Support for Regenerative tourism, but requires strong limits, clear definitions, and
measurable outcomes
Young people echoed these priorities, advocating for a future Noosa that is safe, nature-first,
and easier to move around in.
