The Noosa Transport Strategy 2017-2027 supports the development of high quality, connected and safe walk and cycle
networks along coastal corridors that reduce congestion and provide sustainable transport options for residents at all
times of the year. The following two key corridors were identified by NSC as being of strategic importance for achieving

this end and were the focus of this study:
     •    Corridor 1: Noosa Heads to Tewantin
     •    Corridor 2: Noosa Heads to Peregian Beach.
The purpose of the Noosa High Priority Cycle Route Corridor Study and Concept Design project was to develop, design and
cost usable, direct, accommodating, scenic and safe cycle connections along these two corridors. This final project report

– Options Analysis Report (Corridor 2) – provides a comprehensive summary of the analysis of the existing situation and
proposed design standards (Working Paper 1) and the development, assessment and selection of appropriate route
alignments (Working Paper 2) and design treatments (Working Paper 3) for Corridor 2. Importantly, this final report
presented the final concept design and wayfinding strategy, provided a high-level cost estimate, and outlined funding and
delivery mechanisms to facilitate its prioritised implementation over the next 10 years.
The total high-level cost to implement Corridor 2, estimated at $14.7 million, is expected to be funded by Council and
successful grant applications, primarily through the Queensland Government’s CNLGG Program. Other opportunities for

funding grant programs could include the Queensland Government’s Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme and
the Australian Government’s Bridges Renewal Program, Roads to Recovery Program, and Local Roads and Community
Infrastructure Program.
The next steps following the conclusion of this Noosa High Priority Cycle Route Corridor Study and Concept Design project
include:
     •    Undertake community consultation on the concept design

     •    Apply for grant funding to progress the development of the corridor through TMR’s CNLGG Program
     •    Progress the final concept to detailed design

     •    Identify opportunities to align proposed corridor works with Council’s existing works program
     •    Integrate relevant parts of the draft implementation plan into Council’s LGIP at the time of the next review.
Progressing the project will help ensure Council continues to deliver the HPR cycle network within its boundaries and
perpetuates its long history of delivering cycling improvements and innovative facilities that enhance the safety and
experience of bicycle riders in the Shire, regardless of age or ability.
