Subject: Opposition to the possible service station reported in the Noosa News on 2/1/18 From: Jackie Mundy Date: 2018-01-09T01:53:24+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail, Tony Wellington, Frank Wilkie, Jess Glasgow, Ingrid Jackson, Joe Jurisevic, Frank Pardon, Brian Stockwell Dear all We would like to add our voice to the opposition to the possible new servo in Noosaville as reported in the Noosa News on 2/1/18. We were appalled to read the article for 3 reasons. 1. Noosaville definitely does not need another servo. There can not possibly be an economic or social justification. We are well served by service stations and related food shops. We already have 3 (Woolworths, the 7 Eleven and the Shell servo opposite) plus the servo on Gympie Terrace and the United in Doonan. We can only imagine that the motivation behind the application is to cash in on already inflated petrol prices in Noosa 2. The loss of Maluka Produce and the Barber shop next door would be a devastating for the local and tourist community. These outlets meet a need for services in the community, are very well used and stock plenty of local produce. Their loss would be a major blow for the community, including the local businesses supplying the outlets, and would have a significant impact on the availability of amenities for the community. 3. The addition of another servo does not appear to be consistent with the sustainable development principles underpinning the UNESCO Noosa Biosphere Reserve. We implore the Council to reject the application Kind regards Jackie Mundy and Glenn Howie Noosaville 0450799880
