EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report provides a recommendation for the appointment of the preferred contractor for the
construction of alert flood warning stations.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Technical Officer to the Services & Organisation Committee
Meeting dated 6 June 2017 and award tender 1617T111 for construction of alert flood warning
stations to Ecowise Australia Pty Ltd trading as ALS Hydrographics for the lump sum price of
$206,718 (excluding GST).
REPORT
The purpose of this report is to seek authority to proceed with the preferred tenderer for the
construction of new alert flood warning stations to commence in the 2017/18 financial year.
The Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (DILGP) has awarded Noosa
Council a grant for the supply and installation of ALERT flood warning stations in three (3) target
areas of the Noosa hinterland.
These target areas include the hinterland townships of Cooroy and Pomona as well as a location
in the Kin Kin Creek catchment. The target areas were identified in the Noosa Shire Council
Network Investment Plan prepared by the Bureau of Meteorology for the Queensland
Reconstruction Authority in September 2016.
Noosa Council has completed a site selection process and identified five (5) priority sites (within
the three (3) hinterland target areas) for the installation of ALERT rainfall and river height flood
warning stations. The next phase is to engage a suitably qualified contractor to supply and install
these ALERT rainfall and river height flood warning stations to the defined specifications and the
following criteria.
Design
The fabrication and installation of standard platform units will be in accordance with the standard
drawings provided by the Bureau of Meteorology.
Construction Management and Inspections
Contract administration, management and inspections will be performed in-house by Council
staff.
