INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 1 MARCH 2016
4. SYSTEMS, PROCESSES AND OTHER MATTERS
Regular reviews and updating of operational systems and processes is ongoing and will continue
to align with the Service Review outcomes.
Positive discussions were held with the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) during the
reporting period regarding the continuation of their tenure at The J. Their current lease expires in
December 2016 and they have indicated that they’re keen to pursue another long-term lease
following this. Conversations around this will continue over coming months with a view to
finalising a new lease well before the end of calendar year.
5. FUTURE DIRECTION
Our priority is to fulfil the outcomes of the Service Review and Business Plan which was
approved by Council on 17 December 2015.
Developing a comprehensive long-term asset management plan for the facilities has been
highlighted as a priority and this will begin to take shape over coming months.
Entrepreneurial programing for the remainder of 2015/16 includes two major music events,
supported and cross promoted by our revamped Open Mic nights, now known as ‘Sound Feast’.
These are conducted on a monthly basis with the assistance of Jay Bishoff (founder of Peregian
Originals). These events are aimed to support up-and-coming local musicians of all ages and to
develop The J’s profile as Noosa’s preferred live music venue, further enhancing The J’s profile
as a multi-use community facility.
